Sectors

Energy

Geothermal

Geothermal energy has been used for thousands of years in some countries and is simply power derived from the Earth’s internal heat. To produce geothermal-generated electricity, wells, sometimes miles deep are drilled into underground reservoirs to tap steam and hot water that drive turbines linked to electricity generators. As with Oil & Gas, Separo supports geothermal drilling operations via its Solids Control and Wastewater Treatment divisions.

Energy

Oil & Gas

With our headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland and operations base and main engineering facility in Den Helder, The Netherlands, Separo is perfectly placed to serve the Oil & Gas Industry.

From exploration to decommissioning Separo’s three divisions provide high-quality, environmentally beneficial and cost-saving services across the entire oil and gas lifecycle.

Providing services across the oil and gas lifecycle.

Agriculture

Plant & Animal Waste

After the USA, the Netherlands is the biggest exporter of agricultural produce in the world. The Dutch agricultural sector exports some € 65 billion of agricultural produce annually. With our operational base and main engineering facility located in Den Helder, The Netherlands, Separo is well placed to provide services to the Dutch agricultural sector. Our Industrial Waste and Wastewater Treatment divisions provide equipment and services specifically designed to reduce waste and recover organic material for reuse by our clients.

We’re helping growers reduce waste and reuse organic materials.

Manufacturing & Industry

Waste from Industrial Processes

Due to the potential impact on the environment, manufacturing and its related processes are highly regulated. Many industrial centres are located close to bodies of water due to the need for large amounts of water as an input to the manufacturing process, or for equipment cooling. As a result, it is a legal (not to mention, cost-saving and moral) requirement to treat hazardous waste effluent prior to discharge. Our Industrial Waste and Wastewater Treatment divisions have a 30-year history of providing cost-effective and innovative solutions to industries including steel production, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, car manufacturing, power stations, distilleries and mining.

Helping our customers protect the environment and meet their regulatory obligations.

Construction

Tunnelling & Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Both conventional and trenchless tunnelling techniques such as HDD can involve huge volumes of drilling fluid, associated additives and water. Be it a bentonite (natural clay mineral) slurry used as part of shield-tunnelling or sludge from earthworks, boreholes and excavations, Separo can provide dewatering and material recovery systems.

World-leading dewatering and material recovery systems.

Decommissioning

Residual Materials

As a result of industrial and economic change many industrial plants and assets are being decommissioned. Whether it is a redundant gasworks, oil platform or power station, decommissioning can only commence safely following the removal of residual material and cleaning of storage vessels, pipelines and associated equipment. It is commonly the case that sludge, sediment, effluent and wash-water will require expert treatment in order to protect the environment and minimise the quantity and cost of hazardous waste disposal. Separo has an unrivalled range of in-situ wet waste treatment equipment and services.

Marine Waste

Port Waste Reception Facility

MARPOL is the main international convention aimed at the prevention of pollution from ships caused by operational or accidental causes. It was adopted at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 1973. Separo has over 5 years management experience and technical expertise gained in the operation of an IMO and World Bank endorsed MARPOL approved port waste oil reception facility in Ghana and during a similar project located in Piraeus, Greece.

Over 5 years of management experience and technical expertise.
